Mehdi Nassouli & Marmoucha Collective

Moroccan musician Mehdi Nassouli is one of the leading voices in contemporary Gnawa music. A master of the guembri – the three-stringed bass lute at the heart of the Gnawa tradition – he blends African, Arab and Gnawa roots with elements of jazz, reggae and rock. Having collaborated with artists such as Fatoumata Diawara, Herbie Hancock and Alpha Blondy, Nassouli now joins forces with Amsterdam-based crossover ensemble Marmoucha Collective for BassFest. This versatile collective brings together musicians from diverse cultural and musical backgrounds and is known for its vibrant fusion of North African traditions, contemporary sounds and improvisation. Their collaboration promises a boundary-crossing concert full of rhythm, soul and deep musical dialogue.
