Dutch Double Bass Festial is now BassFest!
First Bird Tickets now on sale!
BassFest is the new name of the Dutch Double Bass Festival. After four successful editions, we’ve chosen a new name that better reflects what the festival already is and aligns with our mission: to turn every music lover into a bass lover! The good news is, the packaging may have changed, but the content remains just as great!
As always, BassFest will bring you the very best of the bass for two full days. On November 8 & 9 at our regular venue, Theater Zuidplein in Rotterdam, you can expect more than 15 concerts with the bass taking center stage—both double bass and bass guitar! From (international) soloists to bands, from classical to jazz, hip-hop, funk, global, and pop. Plus Q&A sessions, our Ateliers in Residence, captivating bass films, and much more.
You can already purchase your First Bird ticket, a significantly cheaper ticket that grants you access to the entire festival weekend. We’ll announce the lineup later, but as you know by now, it’s always a perfect mix of big names and fresh, new adventures!
Are you an even bigger fan of the festival and want to support us extra? Then buy the Golden Support ticket, which gives you access to both festival days plus some additional perks!
In the unlikely event the festival is canceled, all purchased tickets will be fully refunded.
Thank you for coming to DDBF ’23!
It is with pride that we now look back at Dutch Double Bass Festival 2023 which took place on October 13th & 14th at Theater Zuidplein in Rotterdam. For two days, the double bass, bass guitar, violone and viola da gamba took center stage during 19 concerts, 7 talking bass sessions, with 12 ‘Ateliers in Residence,’ a photo exhibition, and a bass cinema. See you in 2025!

For the very first time and exclusively live in the Netherlands: the phenomenal bassist Mohini Dey and her band! From a young age, the virtuosic Dey has been making waves with her unparalleled technique and musicality. She has collaborated with legends such as Steve Vai and Zakir Hussain, and released her debut album in 2023. She is known worldwide for her boundary-pushing playing!
For the second time at our festival, we are honored to welcome living legend Dave Holland. This time with his trio, delivering an explosive mix of virtuosity and groove, with saxophonist Jaleel Shaw and drummer Nasheet Waits as his dream partners in improvisation!
