BassFest spotlights the jazz department of the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag:
Bassist Aaron van Dongen leads the JAS Trio. Since meeting in 2018, they’ve built a close musical bond, performed at North Sea Jazz and toured in Beijing.
Bassist Tianyi Zhang graduated with honors from the Beijing Contemporary Music Academy before coming to The Hague, where he won the Pelizzaro Scholarship First Prize. He has performed in various ensembles, including his own Tian Trio, in which he now combines his Asian background with the European jazz tradition.
