Solo bass guitar and Indian dance in an exciting duet with tight rhythms and impressive foot work. Kalpanarts commissioned bass player and composer Mark Haanstra to write a piece inspired by South Indian Classical music, brought to the bass guitar. This allowed him to go back to the music that has influenced him so much during his trips to India between 2001 and 2004. Now, years later, combined with the many influences and developments of Haanstra as an artist this has led to a highly personal and dynamic piece.
Choreographer Kalpana Raghuraman collaborated with dancer Indu Panday to merge the Indian dance forms Kathak and Bharatanatyam in such a way that they beautifully unite with the music of Mark Haanstra.
